Incomplete applications and/or applications received after the closing date will not be considered.

This section of the application form is designed to help you, and us, understand if you are eligible for this grant. It's crucial that you complete these questions before any others to ensure you do not waste your time applying for an unsuitable grant.

Who Can Apply?

Owners of eligible heritage projects, on heritage items listed on Schedule 5 of Council's Local Environmental Plans (LEPs) are eligible to apply for funding.

What projects can be funded?

The LHF provides funding for conservation works (labour and materials) for privately owned heritage items listed on Schedule 5 of Council's LEPs.

Projects funded may include (and not be limited to):

  • Heritage conservation works
  • Heritage maintenance works
  • Heritage enhancement works
  • Adaptive reuse projects

For all works on privately owned heritage items, each property owner must:

  • Obtain any required approvals and permits, including those under the Heritage Act 1977, National Parks and Wildlife Service Act 1974 and/or local council planning and building requirements before commencing works
  • Seek the advice of a heritage specialist where necessary
  • Use suitably qualified and experienced tradespeople
  • Ensure all works meet appropriate heritage standards

Funding will not be provided for:

  • Any works on Council owned heritage items
  • New buildings
  • Routine maintenance (e.g. lawn mowing, gutter cleaning, or carpet cleaning)
  • Projects where adequate funding is available from the applicant or other sources
  • New commemorative monuments or works
  • Purchasing heritage buildings
  • Relocating buildings or work done to relocated buildings
  • Private headstones, unless there is no possibility of descendent support for the project
  • Floodlighting of heritage buildings
  • Purchasing equipment
  • Moveable railway heritage items.

ALL PROJECTS MUST BE COMPLETED, REPORT SUBMITTED AND FUNDING CLAIMED BY 15 APRIL 2027.
